What your client sees
Parties get access to the client portal in one of two ways:
- Automatically: the moment a party signs their onboarding form, a portal account is created for them: they land in the portal right after signing and receive an invitation email with their personal link and access code.
- By invitation: you can also invite a party manually, from the party list on the client’s Information tab. A party can be invited when they are a natural person, have at least one email address, and don’t have a portal account yet.
Either way, they get their own limited view of their file.
Signing in
Section titled “Signing in”The portal invitation email contains a personal link. For security, the portal asks for a code that is included in the same email; the party can request the code again from the sign-in screen if they’ve lost it. There is no password.
If someone is connected to more than one client, they have multiple portal accounts and can switch between them from the header.
What’s in the portal
Section titled “What’s in the portal”The portal welcomes the party by name and shows which client they are viewing. The menu has three groups:
Client portal
- Overview: the landing page, explaining what they can do here: look up their personal and company information, request permission to make changes, upload documents, and communicate with their relationship manager.
- History: every change they made themselves over time, with a Change Details dialog per entry showing the type of change, the field, the old value and the new value. Structure changes get their own sentences, for example “A new shareholder has been added to the structure with a shareholder percentage of 25%.”
Provided information
- The tabs of their own form, read-only by default: Personal details, Company details (only with the company-information permission) and the Structure.
- Documents: all documents associated with their account.
Communication
- Message center: send and receive messages with your team, filtered by topic. Messages land on the client’s Contact client tab in the dashboard.
If your platform has a portal website URL configured, the Overview page also shows a News & Insights tile linking to your organization’s website. It is not part of the menu.
Can clients change their information?
Section titled “Can clients change their information?”Whether a party can update information is controlled by portal permissions, which you manage per party from the dashboard.
The full flow (permissions, granting requests, and how portal changes are tracked) is covered in Changes via the portal.
Managing portal access
Section titled “Managing portal access”From the party list on the Information tab you can:
- Invite to client portal: give a party access, choosing their permissions and drafting the invitation email.
- Update client portal permissions: control what the party may see and change. The party is notified by email when their permissions change.
- Revoke client portal: switch off a party’s portal account at any time.
- Open client portal: open the party’s portal yourself, to see exactly what they see. A banner marks that you are viewing as an authenticated user; in that mode you cannot send messages on the party’s behalf.
